Ranked amongst the Top 15 Creative Directors and the Top 10 Art Directors in the world by The Directory, and named the 2018 South Asia Creative Person of the Year by Campaign magazine, Ali Rez has won more than 350 international awards in his 19+ year career. These include multiple Gold Cannes Lions, Gold Clios, D&AD pencils, Grand Prix Effie, Grand Prix Dubai Lynx, and the first Glass Spike amongst many others.
Rez started in Physics before ending up in advertising in San Francisco, where – when not involved in mountain biking accidents - he spent more than a decade working on global brands such as Adobe, 7UP, ChevronTexaco and HP.
In quest for adventure, Rez moved to the Middle East, and quickly became one of the most prolific award winners in the region, while managing digital and traditional creative briefs on global brands such as the PepsiCo portfolio, P&G, MasterCard, Lipton and Nestlé across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. Besides leading BBDO to be named Campaign Brief Asia Agency of the Year three years in a row, and being named Agency of the Year 2018 at AdStars, Rez has contributed to the Cannes Lions Network of the Year Award for BBDO. Ali has also been part of prestigious jury panels at Cannes Lions (twice), Clios, Effies, D&AD Impact, and President of the Design Jury at Spikes Asia and Adfest.
Rez has lived and worked in several cities - including Beijing, San Francisco, New York, London, Lahore, and Dubai. He has lectured at Oxford University, exhibited at major museums such as Tate UK, spoken at Tedx, captained a cricket team in California, and - being a firm believer that curiosity leads to creativity - has traveled to 123 countries.
